12 SEPTEMBER
On 12 September 1915, Joseph Pilates was transferred to Knockaloe, an internment camp on the Isle of Man. He was a German boxer and circus performer, held as an enemy alien, and he stayed until March 1919.
Decades later he said the principles of his method came to him in those years. The story goes that he fixed springs to hospital beds so that men who could not stand could still exercise. His biographers treat the story as credible, though the surviving camp records do not confirm it.
What the records do show is a confined man who kept moving, and kept other people moving.
Reformer Renegades stands in that line. We marked this day for the first time on 12 September 2026, 111 years to the day after he arrived. We exist for one reason: to help you move better, so you can change the world.
Every year on 12 September, we confer new rings. No chapter confers more than seven in a year. None is ever sold.
